Homeschool Beginnings

Homeschool.

.

.

Everyone has been interested in our decision to homeschool Henley.

Asking me how it’s going, and what made us decide to keep her home.

Harper is still at her elementary school, but for the last semester and summer, we’ll have Henley home with us during the day.

Has anyone told you how expensive child care is lately?

Most days, she responds well to the routine.

Gets up and gets ready for the day, breakfast, and chill time so mommy can get our area clean and lesson ready (aka finish my coffee ☕️ lol)

We start around 930/10 am with circle time, using this Kid Friendly Melissa and Doug School Board, which is a pretty typical prekindergarten task, then it’s based on the very basic schedule I put together for our week.

Daddy and I both help with school when we’re able.

If I have a call for work and dad is here, he’ll jump in and finish the lesson.

Maybe he’ll add in exercise time!

We’re always showing him our projects and telling him what we learned.

It’s gone well. Like I said… Most days.

Some days, it goes like this picture.

Rainbow letters. Did y’all do that in school?!?

I think I remember doing it in first grade with my spelling words.

Well, she messed up on d.

I don’t know who made letters basically look the same but flip flopped, but … 😡

Rightfully angry, she hulk broke this crayon right in half.

We had a quick melt down.

Had a lesson on what it’s like to make mistakes, and even mommy does too.

And back to finish our lesson.

So far, adding this into our daily schedule has just… meshed.

I’m sure there will be challenges.

But, hopefully I remember the crayon.

And this post.

And even when I make mistakes, and can’t quite seem to get things right…

Because let’s be honest.

Whomever made the parenting playbook really wasn’t playing fair either lol

Hopefully, I remember to keep going just like Henley.
